At Barnabas Planting Network, our goal is to build and an offer a comprehensive 3-day training program designed to equip church planting launch teams with the essential tools and knowledge needed for a successful church plant. This training is rooted in our own experiences from planting Bridge Church in Fort Saskatchewan and the feedback from a widely conducted survey of church plant leaders and launch team members. We believe that every group is different and that the schedule is never set in stone but this is an idea of what your retreat could look like.
Day 1 focuses on establishing a strong vision, strategy, and foundational principles. The day begins with team-building activities and introductions, setting the stage for collaboration and unity. Participants delve into the heart of church planting, exploring the biblical foundations, core values, and theological distinctives. The afternoon sessions emphasize the importance of building a strong team, defining roles and responsibilities, and fostering effective communication and a healthy ministry culture.
Day 2 is dedicated to launching strong and covering ministry essentials. The morning sessions guide participants through developing a realistic launch strategy, including outreach and evangelism plans and the logistics of planning the first worship services. The day continues with in-depth discussions on essential ministries and operations, such as children’s and youth ministry, worship planning, facilities management, and financial considerations. These sessions ensure that every aspect of the church plant is well-prepared and managed.
Day 3 shifts the focus to sustainability and looking ahead. Participants learn about building a healthy church culture, fostering spiritual growth, integrating newcomers, and leading through conflict and challenges. The training also introduces post-launch support and resources, including Barnabas Planting Network’s Tentmaking services and ongoing networking opportunities. The day concludes with a wrap-up session, feedback, and action planning, ensuring that launch teams leave with a clear roadmap for their church plant.
This 3-day training program is aimed to provide church planters and their launch teams with a holistic approach to launching and sustaining a new church. By investing in building and training a strong launch team, Barnabas Planting Network aims to help church planters and their teams avoid burnout and create thriving, healthy church communities.
